House solution for double set of twinsIn the mortgage broking business, some clients’ need for a home is greater than others. Tony Copping of Mortgage Link Coastwide assisted a family recently whose circumstances were becoming more pressing by the month. Jamie, an engineer, and Rachel already had one set of twins, Nicole and Katelyn, and another toddler, Dean, when they received the shock news that she was pregnant with her second set of twins. “They were living in rental accommodation and facing the prospect of five children under three and a half,” Tony said. The couple had bought a section in Hokitika mid-way through last year and decided they needed a five-bedroom house to meet the needs of their expanding family. However, they did not have much equity left in their section. Tony approached a bank and was able to secure enough construction loan finance for the couple to build their home. “The bank stepped outside its comfort zone to meet their needs. There was a lot of negotiating to get the deal done but we were able to satisfy the builder, the bank and the clients.” Rachel and their children, including the new set of seven-month-old twins, moved into their new home in November. To top off the hard work when Tony went to visit them, he presented them with the latest registered valuation for the bank. It showed a final valuation some $90,000 above the first, off the plans valuation, of some 12 months ago.
