I entered the mortgage broking industry in 1994 after spending 12 years in the banking sector, the last 7 years in the lending field. I was beginning to observe that all the traditional banks were changing their systems and wanting be more computerised and less personal when dealing with clients. I saw an opportunity that would allow me to provide a service that matched client’s needs to the many different lenders while maintaining the human touch. It would allow the client to have some power and ownership in the decision making process.

I joined forces with a business associate back in July 1996 to form Mortgage Link Nelson.

I was also a foundation member of the New Zealand Mortgage Brokers Association (NZMBA). The NZMBA was set up to ensure that all mortgage brokers/advisors, that are members, are able to provide a high level of service, skill and ethics. I have been fortunate enough to be recognised by the NZMBA and our lender partners, during its annual awards by being nominated for broker of the year on a number of years whilst becoming a regional finalist in 2002.

I enjoy being able to assist clients achieve their financial goals. To this end I am always looking ahead in the loan application process. Looking at plan A, B and C to ensure we all get the right end result. I believe in being honest and up front with my clients, even if sometimes it is not really what the client wants to hear. I do not believe in surprises throughout the process.

As mortgage advisers we only get paid if the loan is approved and uplifted, so we are always looking for ways to ensure the loan is approved. This ensures that I am working very hard for you.

Outside of mortgage advising, I enjoy playing squash and golf. I am an avid sports follower. As a family we enjoy camping during the summer months. I have been involved in coaching soccer (both my son and daughters) teams over the last 6 years as well is being involved in scouting as the Richmond Scout Group Chairman.
