The opportunity to join Mortgage Link Nelson was taken by me in 2003 and in 2004 I became a 50% partner with Mark Langdon.

Becoming a mortgage adviser was the perfect choice for me as I had 30 years of banking experience including my last 10 years as the Branch as Manager of one of the largest banking groups in NZ and a passion for lending and helping clients achieve their financial goals.

As a Mortgage Link adviser I have access to over 20 plus different lenders’ packages and as a result of the many loan options available there are very few times I am unable to find a lending solution to satisfy my client’s financial needs.

I have found that one of the main advantages of being a broker is the flexibility to see clients when and where it suits them best. I find that visiting clients in their own home is very worthwhile as it is more relaxing for them and there is time to discuss individual needs and get a better feel and understanding of their financial situation and goals. I can then structure a lending and banking package with the appropriate lender for my clients.

While I provide clients with advice on all types of financial options it’s always satisfying for me to help first home buyers. Quite often the first time home buyer has short-term debt that puts their affordability outside the normal bank repayment criteria but with my experience I can restructure existing loans and make their first home purchase affordable and achievable. I get no greater satisfaction than when arranging finance that helps clients achieve their dreams and seeing the pleasure that this brings to them.

I have experience and a personal interest in residential rental investment properties. I have an excellent knowledge in this field and am able to advise clients on the many issues regarding loan structure and the viability of property investment.

I enjoy helping my clients to achieve their goals by finding the right financial solution for them. There is no greater buzz for me than a successful outcome for my clients.

Outside my work I enjoy fishing, hunting and watching rugby. These days (a little like my work) I love helping and seeing others catch their first fish or shoot their first stag. Spending time with family and friends in the fantastic outdoor play-ground we have in the Nelson area is my after work pleasure.
